I've finally got red hair!
Not sure if I'm going to like it or not. I haven't gotten any photos yet. I think I'll like it..for a while anyway. I love change, so this is good.
I spent a long time tonight submitting my blog to various sites. I found a wonderful article to help you understand the process, along with a check sheet on Artreprenuer!
Be sure and check it out, really great stuff.
If you want to, I'd love for you to sign up for my feeds on feedburner! Just look to the right over there under my links and click, it will walk you through it.
Lots of work going on,
I had a really interesting phone call today from a group about a possible showing in Philadelphia. We'll see where that leads us!
Well, way to late to be up. So I better turn in for the night.
More tomorrow, when I fell fresh.

Creativity Quote of the Day, Friday Sept. 30th, 2005
"Cultivate your garden… Do not depend upon teachers to educate you … follow your own bent, pursue your curiosity bravely, express yourself, make your own harmony… In the end, education, like happiness, is individual, and must come to us from life and from ourselves. There is no way; each pilgrim must make his own path. "Happiness," said Chamfort, "is not easily won; it is hard to find it in ourselves, and impossible to find it elsewhere."-- Will Durant
Being self taught is a true experience. I've considered going back for my art degree many times but feel it would strip me of the essence of who I am as an artist. The journey has been interesting, quirky, and difficult at times but rewarding.

Katrina Relief Painting
This is my most recent painting for my relief event. I've also been working on my typical New Orleans works. This painting is a combination of collage and poetry I composed a few days after the tragedy.
The words are:
Crescent Flood of Tears
My eyes are tired of crying, my heart is tired of breaking
I can't comprehend what I am seeing,
what are the choices that we are making?
Will you move towards me with compassion or a fist?
The waters rose like oceans swallowing up the light,
leaving innocence to die that Dark New Orleans night.
Torrents washed away the dreams and hopes of days gone by,
Help should be coming but is that just a lie?
We are Americans not refugees!
Red, White and Blue will you come rescue me?
Hear our cries for our brothers-our homes- our children that faded before our eyes.Angel Dyke,

Birth Order Quiz-It was right!!!
You Are Likely a First Born |
At your darkest moments, you feel guilty. At work and school, you do best when you're researching. When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often. In friendship, you are considerate and compromising. Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking. You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream. |
Creativity Quote of the Day for Thursday, Sept. 29th
"If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced." — Vincent Van Gogh
I find it reassuring that Van Gogh had to reassure himself of his talent from time to time. I'm no Vincent (yet! ) but I think all creatives struggle with the process from time to time. My biggest blocks is actually making myself work through unproductive lulls and keep on working. Which must be done today! Too many commmissions waiting to be finalized.

Mood Art of the Day
Mood ART of the Day:
BAD HAIR DAY!
Could my overall off colored mood be due to my recent hair change? I don't think so but maybe it has something to do with it. Emotive doodling is quite therapeutic for me. I'll pop up 2 minute moods of the day from time to time.
Inhale, EXhale.. mood go away don't come back another day.

Creative Quote of the Day
Art will remain the most astonishing activity of mankind born out of struggle between wisdom and madness, between dream and reality in our mind.

Painting up a Storm
I'll be in the studio today as I find inspiration striking. Paint will be flying for the next few hours as I see where the muse will take me. I plan on paint therapy style work today as I feel an ominious blue mood lurking on the horizon. Wrestling with it is hard so I'll paint it out, if I can.

Face of an Artist
Geez, I am trying to figure out how to get my photo on my profile.. So now it's here, maybe it will be there later if I can figure it all out.
Anyone have any good pointers to make the learning curve accelerate? It is allseeming a bit hard to master.
Ugh, I have a love/hate relationship with technology.
Boston Terrier and Yorkshire Artist Accomplices
I thought you might want to be introduced to the
incredible duo that keeps the studio run amuck.
Boudreaux, is the finest of all southern gentlemen. Always dressed to a tee in his tux and tails. Quite the little ham, and loves to help me in the studio. His major collaborations are from the melodic rhythm of him sleeping. From time to time, he'll roll on my reference photos under the easel.
Peanut, the Yorkie ragamuffin is another story. He participates quite frequently in the artistic process whole heartedly. He has been known to knock over my easel as well as jump into my lap, directly somersaulting into my paint palette. His last adventure left white paw prints on my drop cloth.
They keep me on my toes, but are my best critics.
They simply voice undying love and affection for their favorite artest- albiet by bribes of purple popsicles or a few chips.
I just love them. If humans could be as humane as animals the world would be a much better place. They never share my secrets and always think my newest work is the best. If I could just get them to sit still enough for a photo session. ...hmm, wonder how I can pull that off.
Art..
Time seems to escape me. I've got alot to get done, and I'll be posting more works here soon.
I need to go get refreshed and inspired. The ebb and flow of creativity can cause such deep lulls and atmospheric highs. It seems to be causing such a push pull effect on my emotions.
I am going to run errands and restock the fridge since Rita hit us, I had to throw it all out due to power outages. The pantry is ok, but everything cold had to go. So time to eat healthy now--no excuses. A great time to start.
I'm working on my commission orders and trying to get caught up.
More about me later..time for Chinese food. Maybe I'll find inspiration at Peking.
